About

Our Mission

Harmonising objects of different provenance and date until they appear as one large, cohesive family; making different styles and eras converse, with an eclectic taste refined over years of experience.

This has always been our distinctive trait, alongside a careful research and selection of works of art around the world.

The founders

Two brothers and one passion for art.

Antonio and Claudio Esposito founded Phidias Antiques in 1976. After an important experience in Milan, the gallery continued its work in Reggio Emilia, inside Palazzo Benizzi, with a personal taste for beauty and a rigorous eye for quality.

Their research moves between European painting and sculpture from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, neoclassical furniture, bronze objects, oriental antiquities and works that still preserve the atmosphere of their time.

Team

What we stand for

Our values

Selection

A few pieces, chosen for quality, coherence with our line and historical-artistic interest.

Discretion

Absolute confidentiality in handling purchases, sales and collector relationships.

Expertise

Forty years of experience, documentary research and attention to provenance.

Heritage

Our history

A history built piece by piece, from the early 1980s to today.

  1. The origins

Antonio and Claudio Esposito open the gallery in Reggio Emilia. The first acquisitions are born from direct relationships with collectors, scholars and Italian private collections.

  2. Line consolidation

The gallery defines its identity: 19th and 20th century painting and sculpture, neoclassical furniture, fine works of art and oriental antiquities.

  3. International fairs

Constant presence at the main industry events: Mostra Internazionale di Milano, Parma Gotha and Modenantiquaria, alongside specialised exhibitions on orientalist painting and 19th century sculpture.

  4. Two generations, one passion

The founders are joined by their sons. The research goes on: new acquisitions, new relationships, and an ever-growing audience — online and in the gallery.
